Pumping And Transmission
Prior to entering the clearwells, chlorine is added to maintain a residual disinfectant throughout the distribution system. The filtered water is stored in two clearwells with a total capacity of 5.4 million gallons. Finished water pumps draw water from a wetwell to service CLCJAWA communities. The member communities are linked by 32 miles of transmission pipe with sizes ranging from 16 to 48-inches in diameter. At approximately the midpoint of the system, three 3.2 million gallon standpipes provide additional system storage, and a booster pump station maintains adequate pressure for the most distant member communities. In addition, a 200-foot tall, 1.5 million gallon elevated storage tank is located downstream of the booster pump station to provide more storage, maintain pressure, and improve the system's reliability.
